Cool finger tip sized miniature oranges created using white and orange colored plasticine and sculpted using a razor blade. Intricate work by people who have too much free time on their hands.
Check out the whole sculpting process of the smallest man made orange with 33 more pics after the jump.
that was fun! when i first saw the title i thought that the smallest man in the world had been turned orange. or that the smallest man in the world had made an orange, i couldnt figure out how hed do that. this is much better.
This is a prime example of the law of diminishing returns! Once, the Internet was a source of information (not knowledge-make sure you know the difference!)subject to an intelligent persons’ qualifications. Now,we have the means and capability to foist any half-assed saying, belief or photo (sometimes all three!) Redeeming qualities be damned!
I can’t believe there’s so many people that don’t understand that, no matter what the picture is, someone will say “it’s shopped”. It’s a JOKE. Granted, not very funny, and yeah it’s old and I’m getting sick of seeing it EVERYWHERE, but really – do you actually believe that people are stupid enough to mistake obvious real images for photoshopped ones? There are still semi-intelligent people on the web (I know I know, it’s hard to believe).
That is not photo shopped you idiots i have actually seen a video of this woman doing this you just say it is photo shopped cause you could never do it
I thought at first, she was going to stop at the slice of orange, but she kept going and made a very good mini-orange peeled and sliced. I thought it was great!
With all-due appreciation for the content of the article, please correct the headline to read “Smallest Man-Made Orange.” Hyphens exist for clarity purposes like these; no need to fear them!
For all of you “It’s photoshoped” people, why do you think it’s photoshoped? What part of it looks photoshoped to you? And please, don’t answer with “cauze it iz nd i sayed so” Thanks.
NOT PHOTOSHOPPED you jackasses. It is made with fimo or sculpey. It is a polymer clay. If you “photoshop” experts actually knew anything about art you would know that there are all kinds of miniatures just like that being made every day by artists. Just google fimo or sculpey and you you can see all the examples of people making really tiny things out of this medium. If you actually look at the pictures here and follow the process step by step, it is done exactly as someone would make a really small orange.
It’s not photo-shopped. A guy came to the art fair in my home town this week and was selling all kinds of tiny kitchen things and foods made from clay. Things like 3-tier cakes that are way more complicated than that orange. People who think it’s photoshopped need to get off their asses once in awhile so that they can see AROUND the computer monitor.
It’s not photoshopped. My sister used to work with polymer clay. So the pictures are a little grainy. All that proves is her camera isn’t as skilled as her imagination and hands.
oh and FYI there’s no way that’s photoshopped. totally 100% real. i hate people who claim they know how to use photoshop and can’t even tell the difference between what’s real and what’s photoshopped. frankly i think people like that are either second rate or have LITTLE or NO artistic talent whatsoever!
It is totally possible for this to be real. I’ve seen my uncle make tiny food from clay that is just as small and realistic, though not to the same degree. But, random question, why does the large orange start with eight white lines, but the cross section of the final product have ten?
If you look at that final shot, you will see that the artist has made two separate oranges. The slice at the top of the frame has 8 white lines, just like the image of the beginning of this sequence. The example photos may be taken from the process of making both oranges.
What do you mean by, “After the jump”? Where is the jump, the new line after that text? Is it because it happens to be where you would have to start scrolling to see more at your resolution? You do know we all have different screen sizes and resolutions? I think the jump should be removed from your blog and all blogs currently in existence.

Very cute and very well done though.

June 30th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
who ever thinks thats photoshopped needs to get a life. some people are actually artists, not fake “artists” who use photoshop to make images.
respec the talent.
July 3rd, 2008 at 2:58 pm
Total fake. You can tell it’s photoshopped.
July 4th, 2008 at 1:29 am

July 6th, 2008 at 5:22 am
Not man-made…woman-made.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
Why would someone bother to photoshop that?!? I hate all you Morons
July 8th, 2008 at 9:30 am
Some people have far too much time on there hands
July 8th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
That last shot needs a dime or something as a reference to give proper sense of scale.
July 9th, 2008 at 4:50 am
I think that’s great. Why, when someone makes art, is it labeled as that person having “too much time on their hands”?

My mistake, I have it backwards…the upper orange has the 10 lines…but I stick to my original claim of multiple oranges.
