By Susan Breslow Sardone. Jamaica is one of the most popular islands in the Caribbean for nude beach lovers. There's something about the extensive beaches, hot sun, and availability of ganja that inspires honeymoon couples and other adults on romantic getaways to shed their clothing along with their inhibitions on Jamaica's golden beaches and inside its clothing-optional resorts. Going nude isn't obscene or just for exhibitionists, though. However, going nude in public is technically against the law in Jamaica, but this law is only really enforced on public beaches that explicitly forbid nudity.
Not that I am in the habit of noticing perfectly formed breasts, but Grethe from Norway had an exceptional set of baubles that were staring right at me. Sitting in the hot tub of the au naturel beach at Couples Sans Souci Ochos Rios , I try to look the other way or politely practice indifference whilst sitting across from the Norse goddess and her slightly erect husband. We talk about the weather and share travel tips. To be clear, people around here look like a cross sampling of your local Walmart, naked. I feel self-conscious and timidly wrap a towel around myself whilst walking about, though I confess, letting it all hang out here in the open and getting even tan lines is liberating. I am by no means a nudist, but what am I doing here you ask? By accident, really.
Visiting in July for my honeymoon on carnival is there any good topless or nude beaches in ocho rios close to the port? Believe it or not nudity is not the norm in Jamaica. Maybe if you sneak off alone.
Although topless sunbathing is widely acceptable in Jamaica, spots for full-on nude sunbathing are a little scarce — but there are a handful of good resort options for vacationers who prefer to tan au naturel, whether they are spring breakers or moms trying to avoid tan lines. The Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort and Spa lives up to its name -- it's a large, upscale, all-inclusive resort with multiple pools, numerous restaurants, bars, and even its own shopping areas. The look throughout is fresh and modern, and there are a wide array of activities and amenities, like tennis and water sports on the beach. Though it's a family-friendly resort, it has a clothing optional, adult-only areas as well. The rooms mostly blend bright, contemporary design with subtle colonial details, and include a nice array of modern electronics like flat-screen TVs and iPod docks.
